The founder is a California native who attended Oakland Technical High School and went on to study Communications at Chabot Junior College and Cal State Los Angeles before beginning a career in television & film production where he gained knowledge and global connections before ultimately turning his childhood passion into World Talk.

He was inspired as a young child by a gorilla named Koko who was being taught sign language in the 1980s at a San Francisco zoo. A few years later as a pre-teen he came across a communication barrier with a neighbourhood convenience store worker and thought to himself, why don't they just teach us all sign language. This was the birth point of World Talk.
